Othayadi Paathayila....

Made this photograph when I was in my native sometime back. The atmosphere somehow made me re-think the whole equation of life....sadly, most of us get engrossed in our day today activities and problems forgetting to enjoy the vareity that nature or life provides us.....going to different places and taking a closer look at the people and environment around is refreshing....atleast I felt it very refreshing.
I was the only person other than this man in this othayadi paathai when I made this snap! The environment was just too close to nature....loved the time I spent there!

The Last Traces...

These are the last traces of what would have been a Grand image a few decades ago. Just imagine how this house would have been when people were living in here.....over to your imagination @@@@

Let's open our mind....

Let's open our mind - the whole world is waiting!

SUN

Yet another beautiful evening - Yet another beautiful sunset!

Everytime I see the sun set, through the view finder, I wonder how we get involved in our day today activities and miss to enjoy the beauty our nature provides us!

Greenery.....

..............alone in a lonely place.....the occasional rain or the drizzle.... water all around.....the music of the birds.....without the jarring noice of the vehicles or the carbon monoxide that they emit........mind relaxed.....no pressure....no deadlines.....no vengence.......no expectations......
Life is Beautiful - isn't it?

PEACE

Thanimayil Inimai?!

Yet another lovely morning!

My Thought on Schools - Contd from last post!!

Maybe my yesterday's post was a bit raw and clumsy to an extent as I just penned it down what I thought at that moment and also I was rushing! But I stand by what ever I said in the last post!
The outlook towards school, according to me, has to change (and in both the posts I am talking about the Indian scenario).....and again I would like to stress...I am not talking about ALL the schools and the attitude of ALL the people put together, but am talking of the majority, there are always exceptions!
Let me leave these things apart....now why did I want to write about schools and teaching? Because - I simply love schools and the very thought of school brings a lot of happiness to me!
I am one of those people who firmly beleive that there should be a revolution soon - if things have to change - even a bit! Am just an optimist, that things will change for the better! Just pick up ANY day's news paper and see what is presented there - Violence, War, Rape, Suicide Bombings, religious fights...and what not! If these things have to change - the next generation has to change! The next generation has to be given the chance to think - they need to be equipped with the required knowledge and wisdom to think and make decisions! They need to be moulded to be GOOD people and NOT only Rich people!! I think it is the responsibilty of the schools to do so! Running a school should not be seen as a business thought.......

Just would like to quote Mr. J.Krishnamurty's words on school here....

"A school is a place where one learns both the importance of knowledge and its irrelevance. It is a place where one learns to observe the world without a particular point of view or conclusion. One learns to look at the whole of man's endeavor, his search for beauty, his search for truth and a way of living that is not a contradiction between conclusion and action. It is a place where both teacher and the taught learn a way of life in which conflict ends."

"It is the concern of the schools to bring about a new generation of human beings who are free from self-centered action, to bring about a mind that has no conflict within itself and so end the struggle and conflict in the world about us."

No specific name!

Time now is 4 in the evening...have hell a lotta work to do but am sitting in front of the computer and blogging! Sometimes blogging takes the pressure off you - its like talking to a good friend - atleast I feel so!

So, now, as I am having quite a few tasks in hand and do not know which one to perform first(Prioritization!!) or the order in which I am going to do them, I stopped every thing for a moment and have taken up blogging! May be things will be okey when I return back to work...atleast my mind will be little relaxed!

As I have suddenly turned up here - dont have any topic in mind to specifically write of - till now! I just am wondering if I should continue and finish this blog or just close the window and go back to work! I guess I would continue with the blog......... oh...yeah - I wanted to write about teaching some time back, but wasn't able to do it then! Lemme do that now - but not in much detail! Teaching is one of the professions where I would have been more satisfied - more happy and ofcourse more peaceful! I would still love to be a teacher...but I have practical problems in
choosing teaching as a career!

The first and the foremost thing is the pay a teacher gets! I just am not able to digest the fact that even the best of teachers are offered very nominal pay! Just compare the pay a fresh software techie or a BPO employee gets today!! I find it really tough to face this fact! Given this fact how many good students do you think will opt for taking up teaching today - ofcourse there are exceptions - there are people who still live their dream inspite of these barriers....but consider normal people...we are busy chasing Engineering and Medical degrees as if there is nothing else in this world! Soceity as a whole has to accept the blame for this - Soceity I
guess includes U and Me!

The second thing being - the teachers not given the respect they really deserve! A teacher, according to me, is more responsible in shaping a person's character than the parents themselves! Teaching is a process...it is the responsibilty of moulding a person's character, in making him/her a good citizen for tommorow....it is equipping the person with the necessary knowledge...imparting attitude...but all these gets overshadowed...and finally we have come to a stage where we beleive the school that produces the best results (in Boeard exams) is the best school...and the similar applies to teachers!

When I think of what can be done about this....I am not too sure...there needs a sea change in the attitude of the people! The whole school atmosphere here has to change....a school should be a place where a child is moulded in such a manner that the best out of each child is extracted, the identification of a child's character has to be done....getting good marks in the examination alone should not be the aim of the students, teachers and as a whole the school !! And for that the soceity has to change - now the soceity and the systems respect only people get good marks....so ultimately students with other talents but score less in exams are not encouraged!

Anyway - Am running now - will update as soon as possible!!
